These things rock!

Recently I was replacing the keyboard on a Microbee computer, which requires removal of ALL the existing key switches from the main board. Not having these tips I had to try and use the desoldering gun, which sort of worked, but was a bit tedious.

About half way through I cracked it and decided I’d buy some of these “shovel” tips instead. Locally these seemed to be in the AUD$70-AUD$90 range (each), so I ended up ordering them on AliExpress (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008347013362.html). Are they as good as the ones sold locally - no idea, but for the amount of work I do they should last well and truly long enough :-)

Using these made removing the keys dead easy :-) Heat both key switch pins at the same time and the switch pulls out cleanly.

Of course I didn’t need all 4 tips for this - it was only the smallest one (the bottom one in the photo) that I used, but I bought the others to keep up my sleeve for larger jobs in future :-)
